Operations Manager

) to join our expanding Company.
Where Will You Be Working?
Arlington Fleet Services is based at Eastleigh Works in Hampshire on a 46-acre site which includes 14 acres of workshops. We were formed in 2004 by a group of experienced railway engineering professionals and our business is constantly expanding. The Company supplies many rail maintenance and refurbishment services including;
Routine maintenance of a variety of locomotives, coaching and other stock Mobile services which are the most extensive in the UK including re-railing and heavy lifting and wheelset changes on site.
Bogie overhaul.
Heavy repair including collision repairs, re-wiring, interior refurbishment and overhaul
Paint shop.
Rolling stock storage.
Workshop facilities to other customers.
Train stabling and additional related storage.
What is the opportunity?
The Operations Manager will manage and drive production, output and efficiency of various departmental teams, managing the overall planning and designing of methods to improve or enhance existing work programs. Overseeing the analysis and review of budgets, schedules, production requirements and headcount to determine the most cost effective and efficient methods of obtaining necessary resources.
Focusing on conformance with economical manufacturing objectives, profit goals, and production schedules ensuring that the production process is on time and within the budget. Managing multiple departments, including Wagons, locomotives, Wheel-Shop, Paint-shop, Welders, shunting and assisting with various projects.
Daily Responsibilities
Overseeing the production process, drawing up a production schedule to achieve project and business objectives
Effective control of manpower, allocated overheads and materials
Lead daily briefings and production meetings and instruct staff to meet production targets
Making sure that the output produced is on time and is of good quality
Estimating costs and setting the quality standards
Monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed
Being responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment including plant.
Monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programmes
Safety brief, toolbox talk and review of documentation
Liaising among different departments, e.g. suppliers, managers
Working with managers to implement the company's policies and goals
Ensuring Compliance with Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental and any other relevant legislation
Supervising and motivating the production team
Reviewing worker performance
Identifying training needs and maintenance of staff competences
Work with customers and suppliers to ensure that contractual requirements are met
Contribute towards new business tendering activities
Provide warranty and after sales support of business products and services
Undertake any other similar responsibilities as requested from time to time.
What Experience & Qualifications Do I Need?
Proven experience in Management
Excellent communication skills, including an excellent command of English - both spoken and written
Ability to analyse complex data and draw valid conclusions
Ability to understand financial information and effectively control allocated budgets
Strong business acumen
Excellent problem-solving skills
Proven record of leading and developing a team
Excellent people management skills
Ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop others
Ability to complete tasks to high standards in a fast, effective and efficient manner

Ideally, but depending upon experiences, the candidate should hold:
CMI/ILM management qualifications at Level 5 or higher
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and EN 9100 International Standards
Experience of Managing Large Projects
A recognised qualification in Management
Proven experience within an engineering environment
