We're seeking an organised, proactive, and people-focused
Operations Manager
to oversee the day-to-day logistics and operations for Lannan Bakery & Pantry. The role involves managing systems, staff coordination, online operations, and communication between departments to ensure the smooth running of our business.
You'll act as the key link between the owners, department heads, and staff members ensuring all teams are aligned and supported in delivering exceptional products and service.
Key Responsibilities
General Operations
Confidently handle problem-solving across departments, identifying and resolving operational challenges quickly.
Manage customer communications, responding to questions, complaints, and feedback via email, website, and in person.
Oversee daily operational flow and provide support to department heads (Front of House, Back of House, Pantry).
Scheduling & Staffing
Assist all departments with rota scheduling, and holiday requests to ensure adequate coverage across departments.
Ensure departments are fully staffed and operational at all times, adapting quickly to changes in availability.
Website, Online Menu & Store Management
Maintain and update the company website to ensure accuracy and smooth operation.
Update the online menu, including seasonal items, pop-ups etc.
Manage and fulfil online store orders efficiently and accurately.
Monitor online sales performance and flag issues or opportunities for improvement.
Maintain pre-orders system, and ensure effective communication between departments regarding timelines, availability and expectation management.
Hiring & Onboarding
Assist department heads with recruitment including hiring across all levels.
Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all documentation is complete (new starter forms, right-to-work documentation, emergency contacts, and payroll setup).
Maintain compliance with fair hiring practices and employment regulations.
People Management & HR Support
Liaise with department heads, HR representatives, and owners to handle HR-related matters.
Conduct or coordinate regular staff appraisals and check-ins alongside department heads.
Keep accurate records of performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and training completion.
Promote staff wellbeing and ensure a positive, supportive workplace culture.
Training & Development
Organise and track all mandatory staff training, ensuring compliance with best practice standards.
Support department heads in delivering on-the-job training and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
Ensure training resources and materials are current and easily accessible.
Communication & Coordination
Act as the main communication bridge between owners, department heads, and staff.
Support owners with strategic planning, operational improvements, and expansion projects.
Facilitate regular coordination meetings to ensure alignment on goals and workflows.
Advocate confidently for business needs and improvements.
Requirements
Essential:
Minimum
2 years' experience
as an Operations Manager or in an operations-focused General Manager role.
Experience in a
bakery and/or cafe environment
.
Proven ability to manage
payroll, scheduling, and cash flow monitoring
.
Proficiency with
Excel
and general administrative systems.
Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
Experience with
specialty coffee operations
.
Familiarity with
design software
(Canva, Photoshop, etc.).
Experience using
rota management tools
(e.g., Rotaready).
Experience with
Square POS
and online order management systems.
Working knowledge of
WIX
or other website platforms

44 hours over 5 days.
