About Hampshire Lift Services
Hampshire Lift Services is a well-established, professional and growing lift maintenance and repair company, known for our technical expertise, fast response times, and long-standing client relationships. As a business operating at SME scale, we combine the professionalism of a larger company with the agility and responsiveness our clients value.
We are proud of our operational strength, but we're ready to move to the next level -- and building a high-performance team is at the heart of that. We're now seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead our people, raise standards, and drive business growth.
Role Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to take a leading role in a company where your decisions will directly influence how the business grows and runs. You'll oversee our team of engineers, ensure excellent service delivery, manage client relationships, and contribute to driving sales and long-term growth.
You will be instrumental in shaping operations, improving processes, and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. While you'll be supported by a strong team and a proven business model, we'll look to you for leadership, initiative, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, develop, and support the engineering and operations team to deliver first-class lift maintenance and repair services.
Plan and coordinate engineer workloads, ensuring works are completed efficiently and in line with SLAs.
Conduct performance reviews, lead training plans, and help develop a pipeline of engineering talent as part of a high-performance culture.
Oversee account management for key clients, providing excellent communication, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities to expand our services.
Support the Managing Director in driving growth, including identifying and acting on commercial opportunities.
Track and improve KPIs such as job response time, first-time fix rate, customer satisfaction, and engineer utilisation.
Monitor operational costs and work within budget to maintain profitability.
Ensure compliance with lift industry regulations (LOLER, PUWER), H&S legislation, and internal policies.
Support the sales process through technical insight, quote approvals, and client proposals.
Manage tools, stock, and logistics to keep field operations running smoothly.
Ensure accurate job logging and reporting through service management systems.
Coach and mentor engineers, conduct performance reviews, and oversee training and development.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Strong background in operations or service management within the lift, M&E, or field service industries.
Experience managing teams of engineers or field staff.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills - both with team members and clients.
Organised and commercially minded, with experience managing budgets and improving service performance.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on leadership role with both strategic and operational responsibilities.
Confident in using service management software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable:
Knowledge of lift regulations and industry compliance standards.
Experience in sales, account management, or growing service-based contracts.
Experience working in a growing SME business.
What We Offer
A high-impact leadership role with real autonomy and influence in an established, respected business.
A competitive salary of 55,000-60,000 depending on experience, with potential for further increases based on performance.
Clear opportunity to shape how the company runs, implements systems, and delivers services.
Nest pension scheme enrolment.
Direct involvement in account management and commercial growth - not just operations.
Supportive leadership, a loyal client base, and a skilled engineering team.
Opportunities for career development and to grow with the business as we expand.
