About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and driven
Operations Manager
to lead our engineering and industrial services operations based in Immingham. This is a critical leadership role responsible for managing personnel, ensuring high-quality service delivery, driving profitability, and developing new business opportunities within the OGC (Oil, Gas, and Chemicals) sector.
This position offers a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in growing our operations, while ensuring full compliance with industry and client standards, and SGS internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage teams to deliver operational excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Ensure resource deployment meets client specifications and complies with industry best practices.
Drive cost-effective service delivery to meet or exceed revenue and margin targets.
Manage location P&L, working capital, and contribute to business growth and staff development.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Identify new business opportunities while sustaining existing accounts.
Liaise across departments to support timely reporting and billing of services.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, coaching, and operational ownership.
Act as the lead contact for audits, ensuring effective follow-up and closure of actions.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Proven experience in client management and service delivery in the OGC or similar sectors.
Business development acumen and understanding of current/future strategic service offerings.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and cost control.
Proficiency in MS Office and business planning tools.
Able to adapt to a dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
Desirable:
Working knowledge of contract and employment law.
Familiarity with UK OGC sector regulations and international compliance standards.
Previous experience in account management, sales, or project management.
Experience Required
Essential:
Proven track record in operational team management and leadership roles.
Experience delivering compliant QHSE systems.
Managing budgets to meet commercial objectives.
Desirable:
Experience in business development and maintaining long-term client relationships.
Background in project management and commercial negotiations.
Qualifications
Essential
Degree or technical qualifications in Engineering, Science or Business related subject.
Full, current, valid UK driving licence.
Desirable
Formal audit, supervisory or management qualification.
IFIA certification.
