Job Description

We are a family founded and led Timber Manufacturer located in East Midlands. We currently seek and experienced Operations Manager to hit the ground running within our management team.

Someone who can lead the way, bringing first-hand expertise to ensure progressive activity across our organisation.

Overview:


The Operations Manager is pivotal to driving operational efficiency, building a high-performance team, and achieving strategic objectives. This role excludes website and sales management, focusing on core production, logistics, and health and safety.

This is an output focused position, requiring experience in quality improvement, data drive processes and corrective actions (where required) across our existing teams and output infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:



Operational Excellence:



Oversee factory, yard, warehouse, and procurement operations. Implement lean manufacturing principles to drive efficiency. Manage health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance and fostering a safety-first culture.

Team Leadership:



Build, develop, and lead a high-performance operations team. Recruit and replace team members to ensure alignment with company values. Conduct regular training and performance evaluations.

Process Management:



Optimise workflows to reduce waste and improve productivity. Manage resources, inventory, and supply chains for uninterrupted production. Ensure robust MRP/ERP integration to track and optimise operations.

Customer Experience:



Ensure seamless production and delivery of orders, meeting deadlines without compromising quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to uphold top-level customer satisfaction.

Continuous Improvement:



Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, creating data-driven solutions. Develop and implement SOPs and Kaizen initiatives. Drive a culture of innovation and resilience across the team.

Key Metrics for Success:



Reduction in operational downtime. Improvements in production lead times and cost efficiencies. Consistent compliance with safety and quality standards. High team engagement and retention rates. Positive customer feedback on delivery and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:



Monitor and optimise factory workflows, yard movements, and inventory systems. Lead daily stand-ups with supervisors to align goals and address challenges. Collaborate with health and safety managers to mitigate risks. Manage procurement, ensuring materials align with production timelines. Review and analyse performance data, presenting actionable insights to senior management.

Core Skills & Experience:



Proven track record in manufacturing operations, ideally in a fast-paced environment. Expertise in lean manufacturing, team development, and resource management. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems; advanced analytical skills are a plus. Results-driven, purpose-oriented, and able to take massive action when needed.

This is an onsite, full-time and permanent role offering a salary bracket of 50K - 70K DOE. This role will suit someone able to go the extra mile, who can bring lean manufacturing expertise on a day-to-day basis.
