Founded in 1997, Long O Donnell is an independent engineering and management consultancy specialising in the delivery of critical projects across the energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors. With a strong reputation for providing both technical and commercial expertise, we support clients from the earliest stages of project development through to delivery, assurance, and close-out.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a driven and organised Operations Manager to join our team and play a central role in strengthening our internal operations

The Role



As our Operations Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the company's operational processes and procedures. This is a key role focused on ensuring that our people, systems, and delivery functions operate efficiently, consistently, and in line with our business objectives.

You will work closely with discipline leads, project managers, and support teams to streamline workflows, support onboarding, and embed best practice across project delivery, compliance, and performance management.

You will be a proactive, structured, and people-focused professional who thrives on improving how a business operates. You'll bring a balance of operational discipline and collaborative leadership, with experience in driving process improvement in a professional services or engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities



Process Development - Design, document, and implement standard operating procedures across the business to improve consistency and efficiency.

Onboarding & People Management - Develop and manage onboarding frameworks to ensure smooth integration of new team members, including training, induction, and competency management.

Project Delivery Support - Oversee project set-up, progress tracking, and reporting processes to ensure high standards of quality, compliance, and client satisfaction.

Performance & Reporting - Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for project delivery, resource utilisation, and operational efficiency.

Quality and Compliance - Work with discipline leads to maintain alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

Systems & Tools - Support the development and optimisation of digital systems, templates, and dashboards for project and business management.

Continuous Improvement - Identify areas for improvement across business functions and drive initiatives to enhance capability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Internal Communication - Facilitate consistent communication between management, project teams, and business support to ensure alignment on priorities and objectives.

Essential skills and attributes:



Experience in an operational management, business improvement, ideally within consultancy, engineering, or construction sectors.

Strong understanding of project delivery lifecycles and business support processes.

Demonstrable experience developing and implementing operational procedures and process frameworks.

Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.

Competent in Microsoft Office 365 and familiar with digital workflow tools (e.g., SharePoint, Power BI, or project management software).

A hands-on, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Desirable:



Experience working within ISO-accredited management systems.

Knowledge of HR or onboarding processes.

Exposure to the utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 50,000.00-60,000.00 per year
