The Role
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team. This pivotal role will initially have a strong focus on executing the roll-out of new systems and processes across the business (including a new MRP system) to improve efficiency, streamline operations, and optimise workflow. Day-to-day, the successful candidate will be responsible for the running of our business operations - a hands-on role based at our North Devon hub, ensuring that our production, logistics, supply chain, order fulfilment and day-to-day operations functions run smoothly and efficiently. The operations manager will play a key role in the centre of the business, with involvement in leadership, decision making and business strategy, and so needs to be a strategic thinker, capable of driving operational performance, managing cross-functional teams, and scaling processes to support growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Collaborate with the senior management team to develop business goals, plans and KPIs. Lead, mentor and support a small yet growing production and warehouse team, managing production schedules and warehouse operations, being hands on and involved where needed, especially at peak times, fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.
Production, Supply Chain and Inventory Management:
Manage inventory, supply chain, procurement and manufacturing to ensure deadlines are met, correct stock availability is maintained, and relationships are managed with suppliers.
Process Optimisation
: Support business growth by ensuring operational scalability and efficiency. Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall productivity. This includes streamlining order processing, inventory management, and cross-departmental workflows and ensuring company policies and procedures are followed and updated regularly.
Project Management
: Develop and manage project timelines, resource planning, and deliverables for system implementations, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion. This includes collaborating with external consultants, suppliers, software providers, and internal teams.
Financial Oversight:
Work closely with the finance team to develop and manage budgets as well as ensure accurate finance reporting and forecasting. Monitor finance performance and ensure cost-effectiveness across departments.
Systems & Process Roll-Out
: Lead the roll-out for new MRP system and updated processes, as well as integration with other business platforms in conjunction with other teams (such as CRM/Accounts). Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage adoption of new processes across departments.
Data & Reporting
: Ensure that key metrics are tracked and reported on across systems to provide insights into order processing, inventory levels, and other critical areas of production and fulfilment. Use data to inform decision-making and drive improvements.
Health & Safety and Risk Compliance:
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across operational activities, manage risk assessments and mitigation strategies and maintain a safe working environment.
Sustainability:
Lead the business in evolving our practices to become more environmentally conscious, particularly in aspects relating to production and order fulfilment.
