As part of our continued growth, we are now seeking an experienced Operations Manager to provide senior leadership to the Tamworth branch, working closely with the General Manager to ensure effective, efficient and commercially sound delivery of renewable energy projects.

Role Purpose



This role will take ownership of day-to-day operational performance, project delivery, resource management, and operational governance, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required technical and quality standards.

The post holder will ideally be an experienced electrician with strong technical capability and proven experience in the delivery of renewable energy projects, bringing both hands-on technical credibility and strategic operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities



Operational Leadership & Delivery



Lead and oversee the end-to-end delivery of renewable energy projects (including Solar PV, EV charging, ASHP, and associated works). Support the General Manager in the day-to-day management of the branch, acting as a senior operational lead. Ensure operational plans are aligned with business strategy, commercial targets, and director expectations. Act as a senior escalation point for operational, technical, and resourcing issues.

Project & Commercial Management



Oversee project delivery performance, ensuring programmes, quality, and margin are protected. Manage invoicing processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete billing in line with project milestones. Monitor project costs, variations, and cash flow in collaboration with finance and commercial teams. Review project performance data and provide clear reporting to Directors.

Team Management & Resource Planning



Line manage Project Managers, Contracts Managers, and other operational staff within the branch. Ensure effective resourcing across projects, including labour planning, subcontractor management, and skills coverage. Support performance management, development, and capability building within the operations team. Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Technical Oversight & Compliance



Provide technical oversight and guidance to ensure works meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with MCS, PAS2030/2035, H&S, and internal quality processes. Support the resolution of technical queries and site issues, drawing on technical experience. Work closely with H&S, Compliance, and Quality teams to maintain high standards across delivery.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting



Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. Provide clear operational reporting and insight to Directors, including risks, performance, and improvement actions. Contribute to branch and business-wide continuous improvement initiatives.

Person Specification



Essential



Proven experience in operational or senior project delivery roles within construction or renewable energy. Strong technical background, ideally a qualified and experienced electrician. Demonstrable experience delivering renewable energy projects at scale. Experience managing Project Managers, Contracts Managers, and site teams. Strong commercial awareness, including cost control and invoicing oversight. Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to operate confidently at senior management and director level.

Desirable



Experience working within a multi-site or regional operational structure. Knowledge of compliance frameworks including MCS, PAS2030/2035, and ISO standards. Experience supporting branch growth or operational scaling.
