Job description



The Operations Manager leads, directs, and controls the day-to-day activities of the Weymouth site, encompassing production, warehouse, purchasing and supply chain operations. The primary goal is to achieve financial and operational objectives, deliver excellent customer service, and ensure efficient manufacturing processes.


Key Responsibilities:


Manage and lead the Purchasing, Supply chain, Warehouse and Production operations. Site leadership, communication, and coordination. Plan and manage the manufacturing team to meet business plan objectives and quality standards. Develop and control operational budgets to promote profitability and ensure the company has the resource required to meet its objects within agreed financial parameters. Manage the warehouse and supply chain to optimise lead times and service levels. Ensure timely delivery of manufactured goods. Ensure component inventory, output and regional hub on-hand stock according to customer demand and inventory targets. Establish and maintain a capacity plan to ensure the factory Operations are capable of meeting forecast demand with burst capacity options. Be open to where that capacity is deployed geographically within the wider organisation to leverage tax/duty advantages and regional go to market speed. Establish and maintain strategic supply relationships and negotiate supplier contractual agreements with suppliers ensuring best possible terms and speed to market. Understand and communicate key drivers for component/commodity cost/trends. Provide guidance, manage workloads, and ensure adequate resourcing. Manage inventory (Raw Materials, WIP, and Finished Goods). Manage operational activities for New Product Introductions (NPI) Implement process improvements and establish a lean culture. Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations. Implement and maintain quality systems. Meet financial targets, manage budgets, control costs, and plan investments. Prepare weekly and monthly reports on business measures and service status to give early warnings. Plan and lead projects within agreed specifications, budgets, and timelines. Coach and appraise staff, fostering a positive and motivated team environment.



Profile



Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Business Administration is desirable. Certification in Lean, Six Sigma or 5S implementation Experience in the ID card market is an advantage. Proven experience in an Operations, Warehouse, or Production Management role within a corporate or manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of 5S Methodology, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Strong understanding of Health and Safety Regulations (ISO, UL, CCC, WEEE, and other regulations on electronics) Strong understanding in buying and negotiation with suppliers. Strong understanding of global certification and compliance. Strong understanding of global logistics and managing 3PL's. Excellent Leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
