The Role



We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take full ownership of our core operational functions. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring warehouse, fulfilment, and transport operations run efficiently, reliably, and in line with commercial objectives.

The role has clear accountability for operational performance, people leadership, and continuous improvement. You will lead operational teams directly, own operational KPIs, and drive improvements in service, efficiency, and scalability, while working closely with the Commercial Director and Purchasing Manager as part of the Senior Management Team.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership & Performance



Full ownership of warehouse operations, including picking, packing, order fulfilment, service levels, and transport/despatch Direct line management of warehouse, purchasing, and operational staff, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and performance Support purchasing and stock control functions to ensure operational alignment, availability, and accuracy Ensure day-to-day operations consistently meet service, quality, and efficiency standards

KPI Ownership & Continuous Improvement



Design, implement, and own operational KPIs across warehousing, fulfilment, and service performance Lead weekly operational performance meetings, using data to identify risks, issues, and improvement opportunities Take decisive action to address performance gaps, including process changes, staffing adjustments, and capability development Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience

Process, Systems & Change



Design, document, and standardise operational processes to support consistency, scalability, and control Lead and embed operational change initiatives, ensuring adoption across teams Use systems, reporting, and data to improve visibility, decision-making, and operational outcomes Support and contribute to automation and system improvement initiatives where appropriate

Commercial & Cross-Functional Collaboration



Work closely with the Commercial Director to ensure operational activities support commercial strategy and customer commitments Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to align supplier performance, stock availability, and operational flow Act as a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to wider business planning and decision-making

People & Culture



Build, lead, and develop high-performing operational teams Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and engagement within operational teams, working in partnership with HR Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

Key Skills & Experience



Proven experience in an Operations Manager role within a fast-paced commercial or distribution environment Strong background in warehouse, fulfilment, and logistics operations Demonstrated experience owning KPIs and using data to drive operational performance Confident people leader with direct line management experience Track record of delivering operational improvement and leading change Strong organisational, planning, and decision-making skills Commercially aware, with an understanding of how operations impact margin, service, and growth Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
