Founded in 1830, UCL has one of the largest philosophy departments in the UK and is a world-leading centre for teaching and research. All major areas of philosophy can be studied at UCL. We cover branches such as political thought, epistemology and metaphysics, and also draw upon the writings of Ancient and Modern philosophers to place our programmes in a historical context.
The departmental Professional Services team provides a wide range of administrative support to facilitate the delivery of teaching and research activity. We work proactively and collaboratively with academic colleagues across the department and with other Professional Services teams across the organisation in order to make UCL a great place to work and study. The post holder is part of the Department's Professional Services team as well as in a wider Faculty-level network.
About the role

Main purpose of the job
The Operations Officer is a key role with responsibility for delivering efficient and effective operational support across the department. The postholder builds and maintains good working relationships with academic colleagues across the department, ensuring administrative tasks are handled appropriately. This is a 12-month fixed term position.

Financial administration
Staffing Administration
Marketing and Communications
Support for Research
Facilities and Health and Safety Management.

About you

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience. they will have substantial administrative experience in Higher Education or a comparable industry.
