Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for which we are looking to recruit a band 3 technician to support Outpatient's, Day-Care and Theatres and to lead our ophthalmology service presently at Moorfields Eye Hospital at St. Ann's (St. Ann's Road, Tottenham, London, N15 3TH.



The successful candidate will be required to be flexible, enthusiastic, and committed to bringing the highest level of ophthalmic care to people,



Reflected in our Trust's core belief that "People's sight matters" as well as being able to work independently and safely, following all standard operating procedures.



The unique opportunity requires a person to be a clinical expert and provide support to the team, training within diagnostic imaging services for glaucoma, cataract, medical retina, low vision out-patients are just a few through diagnostic lane, and also our face-to-face clinics



The key responsibility is to support an expanding service in virtual clinics e.g Glaucoma, Medical Retina and Cataract activities plus supporting junior staff and students in developing skills and helping to embed a continuous quality improvement culture across the service.

Clinical and Patient Care



To support qualified staff in the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for a number of individuals or groups of patients, including clinical risk assessment. To exercise a reasonable and agreed degree of professional autonomy and make judgements and decisions in order to satisfy the expectations and demands of the job. To liaise effectively with all stakeholders in the care process, including carers and relatives, aspiring to provide an effective, seamless and integrated service to patients. To attain competencies, by following the Trusts required protocol.

Professional Responsibilities



To maintain and update relevant knowledge and skills, maintain a professional portfolio and participate in further training as appropriate, in order to enhance quality of care for patients and carers.

Communication



To communicate effectively and in a timely manner within the team. Understand the principles of confidentiality. Always communicate in a way that maintains the patient ' s confidentiality.

Education & Professional Development



To participate in training to achieve the competencies required to undertake the role under the supervision of a trained nurse. Compliance and Governance In conjunction with the Ward Manager and other senior members of the multi-disciplinary team support a positive culture and environment for both staff and patients. * Encourage service users in providing feedback on the quality of service provided on the ward both on a local and Trust level and provide leadership in implementing user focused quality improvement initiatives.
