Job Description

We are an independent family run opticians who are looking for an optical assistant to join our team. We are looking for a part time member of staff for 1 year maternity cover with the possibility of a permanent position. We are a small team in a single testing practice, you will be working in a stress-free environment with no sales pressure.

The store is in the heart of Woolton which has a village feel allowing us to get to know our patients and their family well. Woolton is a thriving area to work with many shops, cafes and restaurants. The store is well connected to the local bus network and there is on-street parking close by.

Responsibilities:
- Assist Optometrist in providing eye care services
- Schedule appointments and manage patient records
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Assist with frame selection and fitting glasses
- Perform basic optical laboratory duties such as tracing and ordering, repairs, and inserting lenses
- Maintain inventory of optical supplies and order new stock as needed

Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to interact with a wide variety of patients

Optical experience essential

- Good organisational skills and accuracy with recording patient information
- Work as part of the team and when working alone you can proactively self direct own workload
- Ideally proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
