We are seeking a dedicated Optical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while assisting with various optical tasks. The Optical Assistant will work closely with both customers and optometrists to ensure a smooth and efficient experience.

Duties

Greet and assist customers in selecting eyewear, including frames and lenses, tailored to their needs. Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity checks and assist with the fitting of spectacles. Maintain an organised display of eyewear products, ensuring all items are clean and well-presented. Process orders for lenses and frames, liaising with laboratories to ensure timely delivery. Provide information on lens options, coatings, and frame materials to educate customers. Handle administrative tasks such as managing patient records and scheduling appointments. Assist in the laboratory with basic tasks, ensuring quality control of optical products. Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear fashion and advancements in optical technology.

Experience

Previous experience in an optical or retail environment is preferred but not essential. Laboratory experience is highly desirable, giving you an edge in understanding the technical aspects of eyewear production. Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye will be beneficial in providing informed assistance to customers. Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanour are essential for building rapport with clients. A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to the fast-paced nature of the optical field is crucial.
