The Optical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of an optical practice. This position involves assisting with patient care, managing laboratory tasks, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the practice. Duties
Greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming environment.
Conduct preliminary eye tests and gather patient history for optometrists.
Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all tools are clean and functional.
Assist in the fabrication of lenses and frames as per specifications.
Manage inventory of optical supplies, placing orders when necessary.
Provide information to patients regarding eyewear options and care instructions.
Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and laboratory work.
Collaborate with optometrists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Skills
Laboratory experience is highly desirable, particularly in an optical or medical setting.
Knowledge of anatomy, particularly related to the eye and visual system, is beneficial.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in measurements and patient records.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
