We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. Duties
Assist optometrists in conducting eye examinations and tests, ensuring all equipment is prepared and maintained.
Provide guidance to patients regarding eyewear options, including frames and lenses.
Manage patient records with accuracy, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
Perform laboratory tasks such as lens edging, fitting, and adjustments as needed.
Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage.
Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments and managing inventory.
Qualifications
Previous experience in an optical or healthcare setting is preferred but not essential.
Knowledge of laboratory processes related to optics is advantageous.
A basic understanding of anatomy related to the eye will be beneficial.
Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills are essential.
