Orthopaedic Practitioner 37.5 hrs per week Band 3- 4 ( Development Role )



An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Qualified Orthopaedic Practitioner/Band 3 trainee Orthopaedic Practitioner to work within the orthopaedic/fracture clinic at the Cumberland Infirmary. The post holder will be expected to work weekends on a rota basis.



In relation to the Trainee position the successful candidate would be a Band 3 HCA while they undertake a robust training and development programme so that they have the relevant knowledge and experience essential to commence the BOA training certificate in plastering. It would be expected that this all would be completed within a timescale of 12 -18 months and upon successful completion would progress to a band 4.



We are a small and supportive team that consists of OPs, qualified nurses and HCA's working alongside the orthopaedic consultants.



The post holder will work within the plaster room undertaking the application/removal of plaster casts; application of splints; removal of sutures/clips; simple dressings all under the direction of the qualified Orthopaedic Practitioners/ Registered Nurses/ Orthopaedic Consultants and Registrars. They will also be responsible for preparing, running and closing down of the speciality clinics and actively take part in the Virtual Fracture Clinic.

Maintain patients' privacy and dignity at all times and provide care in a compassionate

and sensitive manner.



Be an effective part of the multi-disciplinary team contributing to the departmental

objectives.



Continue to develop and maintain competencies in nursing tasks to maintain high quality safe care.



Post holder will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other ward / department duties as required, e.g. general tidiness, re-determined stock levels are met and clinical equipment is clean, working and stored correctly.



Contributes to the work of the department by working under direct or indirect supervision of the Deputy Sister

Please note the cost of the DBS check is increasing from 2 nd December and the new cost will be



Standard DBS check 21.50, Enhanced DBS check 49.50 + any admin costs.

18 + Administration cost of 3.85 = 21.85. Deducted at 6.85 from 1st month salary and 5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

38 + administration cost of 3.90 = 41.90. Deducted at 11.90 from 1st month salary and 10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
