Are you looking to start a career in the outdoors or fancy a change of profession? At Longridge Activity Centre, we have an exciting opportunity to start your outdoor instructing journey.



Longridge Activity Centre is situated on the River Thames, in Marlow, and is the ideal location to begin your career in the Outdoor Industry. We offer watersport sessions in kayaking, canoeing, paddleboards, bell boats and Dragonboats as well as land activities such as climbing, high ropes, archery and axe throwing. We are a growing Centre with new activities in the pipeline and looking for people excited to be part of these projects.

As an Apprentice Instructor at Longridge, you will receive comprehensive training to become an Outdoor Activity Instructor in a range of activities on both land and water, over 10 months (possibility to extend to 12 months for the right candidate). You will deliver sessions to a diverse variety of clients including school groups, secondary school students, youth groups and corporate clientele. The apprenticeship will be delivered in partnership with Industry experts, Channel Training.

You will learn and develop the skills necessary to prepare, plan, deliver and conclude activity sessions, in a safe and fun manner. As an Apprentice Instructor you will have the opportunity to also gain industry standard National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications such as:

Paddle UK Paddlesport Instructor Paddle UK Paddlesport Safety & Rescue Archery GB Instructor ERCA High Ropes Instructor Lowland Leader Training (if 12 month placement) Outdoor First Aid (16 hr) Safeguarding
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be given time for off-the-job training to work on your existing skills and additional training opportunities, in addition to the NGB qualification training. This includes in-house sign offs in activities to help build your soft skills, group management and instructor style. Activities include:

Laser Tag Axe Throwing Aeroball Bushcraft Water Orbs Team Building Trebuchet Orienteering Raft Building Nightline Buggy Build (coming in the 2026 Season)
You will be part of the Activities Instructor Team who will support you by being Industry Professional role models and help nurture your confidence and ability to deliver your activity sessions.

Not local? No problem, we have onsite accommodation, single occupancy rooms, available for those applicants wishing to live on the premises. There will be a charge for this deducted from your monthly wages, so enquire for more information.

Skills and qualifications:



Essential:



Level 1 GCSE (Grade 3/D) in Functional Skills English and Maths An interest in working with young people and adults in the Outdoor Sector Willing to work in all weathers and differing shift patterns (evenings and weekends required) Good communication skills A willingness to learn and challenge yourself in new activities in a rewarding career path Be friendly, clean, tidy and presentable in the working environment Polite and approachable to customers

Desirable:



Level 2 GCSE (Grade 4/C) in Functional Skills English & Maths An interest or experience within the outdoor industry such as Scouts/Guides or hobbies within the outdoor sector Customer service experience

Salary Details:

302 per week / 13,086.66 for 10 months

Working Hours:

40 hours per week on an annualised basis, including evening and weekend work. Some days will be longer than others but will equal out over the duration of your apprenticeship.

Open to under 18s?

18+ due to the nature of activities we deliver on site, DBS requirements & shared staff accommodation with over 18s
