Job Description

The Blenheim Head & Neck Outpatient Department at the Churchill Hospital runs clinics for a variety of specialties.



To manage, communicate with, and lead a team of nursing staff, consisting of Registered nurses, nursing assistants, AHPs and technicians to deliver high standards of care within Outpatients.



To manage, communicate with and lead the nursing team and the day to day management of it



To manage service needs within the department relating to Government and Trust initiatives, ensuring targets are defined, met and continued.



To proactively manage Outpatients Department, ensuring staff, service needs, trust and unit targets are met.



To manage a defined budget.



To be responsible for outpatient staff, adhering to related Trust policies



Ensure the patient's journey is as smooth as possible, looking and responding to the complex needs of individual patients and multiple services within the department. Resolving any patient complaints, maintaining confidentiality at all times, ensuring sensitive information is managed and cascaded appropriately, by working closely with, communicating and liaising with: Clinical Lead for the service, the consultants, doctors, AHP's, GP's, other managers/departments, community/primary care staff, Directorate service managers, and each of all specialty teams.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to collaborate with academic colleagues on relevant clinical research projects.



The post-holder's contribution to and time allocation for teaching, training and research will be included in regular job plan reviews. The teaching and support of medical and nursing staff in the provision of psychiatric assessment and care is a major part of the role.

Clinical:

Wide awareness of all clinical input in department developing skills/teams for each area. With the aim to achieve a safe and secure pathway for patients attending Outpatients. Ensure staff are trained appropriately to use equipment required to manoeuvre /safely transfer patients.



Demonstrate expert clinical knowledge, providing clinical leadership.



Be responsible for and main resource for Patient link line (by phone and personally).



Accept accountability and responsibility for professional conduct.



Work clinically support the pre operative assessment service
