Key Activities for the Outreach Lead (Leeming)
Overview:
Hambleton Community Action offers a range of practical interventions to enable participation, whether socially, economically, or in the community.
This new project is being funded through the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. It will support military families living on RAF Leeming and the surrounding areas, to improve wellbeing and promote volunteering on and around the station. The project aims to build confidence and resilience and develop skills within the community. You will also be required to run a monthly social group for partners and family members whose serving family member is away from home.
Key Activities:
To identify, set up and co-ordinate volunteer-involving projects, specifically for those living on base and the surrounding areas, to build towards volunteer led services
To promote the social and wellbeing benefits of volunteering on and around the station and Hambleton and Richmondshire
Act as the key contact for this project
Explore and develop a community transport scheme for volunteers and service users based on our established model
Ensuring volunteers delivering these projects and activities are inducted and deployed in line with their interests, and have access to appropriate levels of training, support and supervision
Working with HCA colleagues and the Leeming Community team to deliver activities in line with the project plans, including ongoing development and improvements
Setting up, facilitating and supporting new social groups for families whose loved ones are away from home
Matching volunteers and beneficiaries for one-to-one interventions
Ensure that health and safety guidelines are adhered to, and risk assessments are undertaken for project activities.
Maintain client and volunteer records according to our policies and procedures
Provide support to and share learning with the community welfare team and volunteers, whilst maintaining confidentiality
Monitoring and reporting:
Working with our Impacts Officer, collating qualitative and quantitative data to demonstrate the impact of the intervention on individuals and organisations
Using the Impact Hub provided by AFCFT to record beneficiaries and their wellbeing outcomes
Escalate relevant and appropriate information/learning to colleagues
Working with colleagues, to explore if/how the project should be expanded, and provide assistance developing related funding applications
Essential attributes:
Have some lived experience of military life/ or life with serving personnel
Confident and effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to broker and foster mutually-beneficial, boundaried relationships between clients and volunteers based on shared interests, experience, etc.
The ability and desire to develop mutually beneficial relationships with external organisations
An organised and flexible approach with the ability to effectively plan and manage a personal diary to meet the needs of a varied workload.
The ability to work alone unsupervised and complete all tasks agreed within deadlines whilst maintaining high quality standards.
Strong levels of literacy, numeracy and IT to ensure all record-keeping is completed accurately, and that reports are produced on time and to a high standard.
The ability to use online computer systems, inputting real time data and completing reports and case studies to evidence work completed.
Full UK driving licence and own transport as you will be required to travel within Hambleton and Richmondshire.
Flexible approach to all tasks and duties with a team ethos and a willingness to undertake training and development activity
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Experience of delivering groupwork and/or other supportive and social interventions
Experience of partnership working with public, private and voluntary sector agencies
First Aid qualification
Good understanding of safeguarding protocols in North Yorkshire, including Making Safeguarding Personal
Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection regulations / legislation
Personal experience of volunteering

Hours: Part-time (22.5 x hours per week), spread over 4 days with some evening work required
Salary: 25,825.50 pro rata plus 5% pension contribution, reviewed on successful completion of probation.
Contract: This role is offered as a fixed-term contract, ending 31st October 2027. It is offered with a 6-month probationary period.
Holidays: Full-time allowance is 22 days plus statutory holidays, rising by one day per year up to a maximum of five years (this is pro-rata'd for part-time staff).
Purpose: To support the charity in building social capital both within RAF Leeming and the surrounding areas. To co-ordinate and support family members of serving and ex-military personnel to achieve beneficial levels of social connection and activity, thus supporting and promoting wellbeing.
Location: A mix of office-based and outreach, including occasional client home visits
