Outreach Support Worker - Fixed Term to 31 Aug 2025 - 28 hpw over 4 days

BCM is 130 years old making it one of Northern Irelands oldest charities. BCM Supports young and older people in both community and residential settings for up to two years with housing related issues.
This role will complement existing services supporting service users to engage with education, work, wellbeing, recreational activities and develop the skills and confidence to move to independent living.
The Outreach Support Worker will engage with services users, aged 16 \xe2\x80\x93 21years old who may benefit from additional support, particularly with advocating for them, promoting confidence, and being alongside to engage with support services to develop skills to live within the community, and obtain appropriate assistance from external support bodies.
This is an entry level role with the opportunity to undertake Level 2 Heath, Social Care or Youth Work etc. with potential progression to Level 3 while in post alongside other mandatory training.
All training hours will be included within the contracted hours / week.

Key accountabilities

Research and share information on services withing the Statutory, Community, Voluntary Services that could benefit BCM SHYP projects in the Mid Ulster area.
Work as part of the SHYP Dungannon Team, providing holistic support to service users and colleagues
Assist service users to engage with activities, as identified by them, review, and monitor progress towards agreed goals

Internal

Promote Service User involvement and participation in BCM projects / events.
Research and apply for small grants to provide additional activities / resources to enhance provision for service users

Skills and Experience:

1 year experience working with young people in a community or residential setting (previous volunteer experience acceptable)
Knowledge of safeguarding protocols in children and adults and associated escalation processes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport and develop supportive relationships with young and older people and external agencies
Ability to work independently without direct supervision on a daily basis
Ability to work as a member of a broader team to achieve goals and quality outcomes
Excellent time management skills and ability to organize time effectively
Demonstrated IT literacy including experience using Microsoft office applications
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required for this role
This role involves being part of a rota to include day time shifts, evenings, and weekends

Qualifications

GCSE Maths & English Language at Grade C or above or equivalent
Preferred QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
