Are you a qualified educator with a passion for supporting young people on a one-to-one basis? Chalkline Education is looking for dedicated Outreach Tutors/Mentors in the
Wolverhampton
area to provide flexible, tailored support to pupils who need a helping hand to thrive - both academically and personally.
Essential Requirements:
To be considered for the role, you must hold one of the following recognised teaching qualifications:
QTS or PGCE
PTLLS, CTLLS or DTLLS
Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET)
Level 3 Teaching Assistant or HLTA certification
The Role:
We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic tutors and mentors to deliver one-to-one sessions to pupils who may be:
Struggling with Maths and/or English
Managing special educational needs (SEN)
In care or looked-after
Facing barriers to school attendance or mainstream education
You'll plan and deliver high-impact sessions that build confidence, close learning gaps, and re-engage pupils with education. Every learner is unique - your sessions will reflect that.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Delivery
Create engaging, individualised lesson plans tailored to each learner's academic level and personal needs.
Adapt your approach based on the learner's engagement, pace, and mood on the day.
Build a trusting, consistent relationship that supports the pupil both academically and emotionally.
Session Logistics
Sessions typically run Monday to Friday, between 08:30 and 16:30, in line with the school day.
Sessions may be delivered in the learner's home, at school, or in a local venue - all arranged in advance.
Assignments are local to you wherever possible.
Learner Profile:
You will be supporting pupils aged 11-16 who may be:
Looked-after or in the care system
Living with SEN or mental health challenges
Temporarily disengaged from school or awaiting placement
You'll receive full background briefings and ongoing support to help you tailor your approach to each individual learner.
Working Hours & Pay:
Hourly rate: 26-34 (dependent on assignment)
Pay is weekly, based on the number of hours delivered
Enhanced rates available for travel over 30 minutes
Sessions can be scheduled to fit around your availability
Employment Type:
You'll work as an agency tutor/mentor, with no requirement to register as self-employed (though we can support you if you choose to do so).

Online sessions supported via MS Teams or Bramble
