Location: Usher Institute moves to a new building in Edinburgh Bioquarter, early 2024

The Usher Institute and Deanery of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences (MGPHS) within The University of Edinburgh is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic PA to the Dean, MGPHS.

The Opportunity:

To provide high-level professional, confidential, and administrative support to the Dean of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences. As well as managing day-to-day administrative and secretarial work, you must ensure their time and schedule is managed effectively to support the smooth running of all activities associated with the role.

An excellent multi-tasker, this role is wide ranging. From project managing, organising diaries, keeping notes and scheduling meetings to setting up conferences and assisting with travel trips, you will combine a high degree of personal initiative, exceptional organisational and communication skills, and a comprehensive awareness of relevant issues, policies and procedures. The post holder will be confident in working independently and effectively.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Significant experience of a PA role at senior level.
  • Self-confidence, discretion and capacity to remain calm and work effectively under pressure.
  • Experience of liaising with senior level staff within and out with the organisation.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and adopt a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
