Devonport Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Programme
Costain are providing expertise to support a large infrastructure upgrade programme at Devonport Royal Dockyard. This contributes towards meeting the MOD's future long-term requirements in relation to both its warship and submarine programmes.
Following a recent change in strategy, we are now looking for a buildings Package Manager to support on-going enabling works, with potential to grow into a future role on the main construction buildings works.
As the Package Manager for the works, you will support the Senior Agent in ensuring safe and timely implementation of enabling works such as ground Investigations, surveys, site set up and security requirements. You will be working in a highly regulated environment in close proximity to a number of key stakeholders. You will manage the contractors to ensure the works are completed safely, on time and to budget.
This role is primarily based on site and candidates must be able to obtain security clearance.
Assist with the procurement and selection of required contractors to complete the work scopes.
Assist the Senior Agent with management of the contractor's (once appointed) to develop the work methods, identify and develop supporting temporary works and manage interface with key stakeholders.
Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual programme and productivity achieved and review weekly, acting where appropriate, and reporting any changes to the Senior Agent and QS department.
Assist the Senior Agent with management of subcontractors' contract conditions, development of job specific subcontract conditions and management of the subcontractors account with the QS team.
Ensure that inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements, permitting arrangements and temporary works requirements for the control of the works are reviewed, approved, and adhered to.
Provide Intelligent oversight of the works and site activities and where required raise relevant documentation such as TQ's RFI's, NCR's
Co-ordination and liaison with relevant site teams and functions to enable the works, including cross business functional departments
Assist with the production of monthly reports for financial forecasting, monitoring and control of project cost.
Provide visible leadership on health and safety aspects.
Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, processes and statutory requirements as they affect the project's operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented on the project.
Essential
Experience at a similar level on a major project or in a highly regulated environment.
Experience of managing subcontract packages.
Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
IT competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system).
Desirable
Experience of civils and/or construction works.
Experience working in a nuclear environment.
NEC3/4 contract experience.
Microsoft Project/Primavera P6 experience.
