We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and curious individual to join our packaging team at Curious Brewery in Ashford, Kent.
Who We Are
Our reason for being is to inspire people to stay curious. To question. To celebrate. To smile more. And to never graduate from the school of life.
We do that by brewing with the best quality ingredients at our state-of-the-art brewery to make great-tasting beer and cider. We aim to improve our beer and our team by continually developing, training, questioning our methods, and staying forever curious.
Responsibilities
You will start as part of our packaging team working primarily on our keg line. This involves cleaning, filling, labelling, and palletising 30 and 50L kegs with the use of lifting aids. You will also carry out process checks and record temperatures, pressures, and production efficiencies throughout the shift. You will also be responsible for basic quality checks to ensure that the beer being packaged is within specification both prior to and after packaging. Basic machine maintenance and area hygiene are also critical to success in this role. You will use HACCP, GMP, H&S, and 5S housekeeping principles to keep your work area clean, tidy, and safe to use.
You will also learn brewing and processing operations as required, as we believe a well-rounded team is what will help drive growth and improvement.
Other responsibilities include helping out other production areas, assisting with warehousing and distribution, and general good hygiene and housekeeping around the brewery.
Requirements
You'll be someone confident, motivated, and willing to learn about producing the beer and cider which is at the heart what we do. If you're passionate about beer or cider (or think you might be!), we can help you learn the rest. If you already have experience in brewing we will start you at an appropriate level.
This role involves being on your feet all day, handling barrels, lifting, bending, and moving for an entire shift. Microsoft Office and computer skills are required to complete process checks and paperwork.
We are looking for someone who is focused and has an eye for problem solving. Previous experience in food production, food service, warehousing, or manufacturing sectors is a bonus. Above all, we believe that good communication is what makes a workday go smoothly.
What We Offer
We will help you develop into a core member of our packaging team with development throughout brewing, quality, packaging, and logistics.
On top of this we also offer enrollment into accredited training courses in brewing, beer serving, packaging, health and safety, forklift driving, first aid, and can find courses to suit whatever skills you are curious about and the business needs.
Based at our brewery in Ashford, we operate Monday to Friday with 9-hour rotating shifts (including 1 hour break). Shifts are currently 06:00 to 15:00 and 13:00 to 22:00, but will expand beyond this within the next 6 months.
Starting salary is 26,200 to 28,500 depending on experience and growing with training and qualifications. If you have existing brewing experience or qualifications this will be taken into account. We also offer 33 days holiday, a 50% discount in our restaurant and bar, enrolment in our pension scheme, employee benefits program, and we always enjoy a few beers after work or to take home!
