What we're looking for...
We're searching for a proactive and driven
Packaging & Innovation Support Engineer
to play a pivotal role in delivering key site improvement activities. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of our operations, collaborating closely with production, engineering, and our central packaging teams.
Essentially, you'll be a driving force behind making our operations safer, more efficient, and more innovative!
Your responsibilities will include...
You'll ensure all work adheres strictly to
company health & safety
and
food hygiene policies
. This includes managing contractors and issuing necessary
Permit to Work
documents.
You'll assist with the compliance and development of
ISO9001 and ISO14001
procedures related to packaging at our production sites. You'll also work with suppliers to ensure AG Barr's packaging material standards are consistently met and improved.
You'll identify and implement improvements within our production sites, focusing on
value optimisation, sustainability, and innovation projects
.
You'll lead or support improvement initiatives in packaging, providing technical input to other development projects. This includes proposing and implementing feasibility and cost studies for packaging development.
You'll utilise
Efficiency Improvement Tools
to pinpoint production losses and boost our site's
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
.
You'll ensure improvements are not just implemented but
sustained and embedded
within the business. You'll help lead and embed
Continuous Improvement tools
like 5S, A3s, Fishbone, and 5 WHYs.
You'll ensure the factory layout, both macro and micro, is optimised for an
efficient manufacturing process
You'll
liaise with external suppliers
to ensure equipment and consumables are appropriate and the most efficient solutions.
You'll build strong working relationships with
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
and packaging suppliers to support site trials and future capital improvements.
You'll effectively manage
material trials for packaging
, providing input to standards and improving trial procedures.
You'll
influence key stakeholders
to ensure all trials are planned and executed smoothly.
What you'll bring...

Essential Criteria:
Proven experience
in managing and delivering site improvement projects, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of
packaging processes and technologies
.
Demonstrable ability to
implement and embed continuous improvement methodologies
(e.g., 5S, A3s, Fishbone, 5 WHYs).
Experience in conducting
material trials
and improving trial procedures.
A solid grasp of
health & safety and food hygiene policies
, including contractor management and permit-to-work systems.
It would also be great if you can demonstrate:
Familiarity with
ISO9001 and ISO14001
procedures.
Experience using
Efficiency Improvement Tools
to enhance OEE.
