The Packing Room Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing all packing operations to ensure products are picked, packed, and dispatched accurately, efficiently, and in line with customer specifications and company standards. This is a
hands-on supervisory role
, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with
BRCGS
requirements, and the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation.
The role also includes coordinating daily workloads, supervising staff, monitoring packing accuracy, and collaborating with the Warehouse, Logistics, and Operations teams to achieve service excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the packing room for all order types:
internet, wholesale, retail, and e-commerce
.
Ensure all orders are processed within lead times and actively support the company goal of reducing e-commerce lead times from
five days to two
within an agreed time period.
Allocate workloads daily to maintain balance across shifts and ensure adequate staffing levels.
Oversee accurate completion of picking and packing sheets, ensuring all information (box counts, location codes, product details, and updates) is correctly recorded and returned to dispatch.
Ensure packing accuracy, presentation, and labelling meet customer and company specifications.
Monitor packing material stock levels, working with the warehouse operatives and purchasing teams to avoid shortages or delays.
Liaise closely with the Warehouse, Dispatch, and Office teams to coordinate bespoke or special customer requirements.
Investigate packing errors or delays, identify root causes, and implement corrective or preventive actions in accordance with the companies BRCGS certification.
Maintain housekeeping and organisation across all packing areas to ensure an efficient, clean, and safe workspace.
Qualifications
Prior experience in warehousing, logistics, or related fields is preferred but not essential.
Knowledge of materials handling techniques and warehouse safety protocols.
Experience with forklift operation is advantageous; certification is a plus.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar software.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for accurate picking, packing, and quality checks.
