Peadiatric Healthcare assistant/ Peadiatric Care support worker
To join a team of staff to provide support:
Monday to Friday 4pm to 8pm and/ or Monday to Friday 7am to 9am
Day shifts throughout the school holidays and to support with medical appointments.
Opportunity to support with foreign travel to Canada and Lanzarote to assist our client with intensive therapies.
Shift pattern to be agreed, from 3 to 12 hours per day. Minimum number of hours per week to be confirmed.
Pay rate:
Weekday 18 per hour (8am to 8pm)
Weekend / Unsocial 20 per hour (8pm to 8am)
Foreign travel National Minimum Wage 24/7 while away
We are seeking a kind, compassionate, and reliable Paediatric Healthcare Assistant/ care support worker to provide exceptional care for a 5yr old girl with complex care needs.
Our client is a bright and joyful child with complex care needs. This role will be working within the family home and working closely with the wishes of the parents and the needs of the client ensuring she receives the highest quality of care and support in a loving and stimulating environment.
You will be responsible for providing all aspects of care, including chest physiotherapy, suctioning, gastric feeding via a PEG, medication administration, and bathing.
Suitable candidates must have experience managing respiratory conditions and have chest physiotherapy experience.
Responsibilities:
Direct Care
Assist with all tasks of daily living.
Monitor and perform chest physiotherapy, administer suctioning where required, as per the client's individual care plan.
Follow the specific respiratory and laxative plans as instructed.
Administer medications according to personalised care plan.
Preparing blended meals based on nutrition care plan, feeding (including PEG feeds).
Assist with physio/OT sessions.
Monitoring the client's general well-being, reporting any concerns to the parents or medical team.
Complete hoist transfers and ensure safe mobility (manual handling training provided).
Home and Environment:
Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating environment.
Ensure all medical equipment is functioning properly and sterilized as needed.
Keep accurate and detailed records of care.
Engagement and Activities:
Engage the client in stimulating activities and play, considering her developmental needs and preferences. This may include walks, cuddles, following physio/OT exercises, or quiet time with toys and books.
Facilitate appointments and outings as required.
Essential Skills:
Experience caring for children with complex medical needs.
Strong observation and communication skills: You will need to closely monitor the client's well-being and communicate effectively with her parents and the medical team.
Calm and patient demeaner. Being able to stay calm and reassuring in stressful situations is vital.
Knowledge of child development & Safeguarding.
Reliable, honest and trustworthy. You will be working within a family home which must be respected at all times.
Flexibility, the clients schedule may vary due to needs and appointments.
Time management, able to manage your time effectively to complete all tasks.
Desirable skills:
Working with children with vision and hearing impairments.
Experience working with children with Cerebral Palsy.
Clean and valid driving license (Use of Motability car to transport).
