We teach in small groups with a dedicated and experienced teaching team, ensuring that each student receives individual attention and care. We create individual learning packages to support our students' needs.
Main Duties
Therapeutic Sessions
Deliver one-to-one and small group therapy for students (aged 11-25), focusing on sensory, motor, and self-care needs.
Develop tailored therapy plans based on individual assessments.
Use sensory integration, fine/gross motor skills, and daily living activities in therapy.
Monitor progress through assessments, goal-setting, and observations.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Assess students' motor coordination, sensory processing, handwriting, and self-care.
Maintain accurate, confidential records of therapy sessions and outcomes.
Provide regular progress updates to students, staff, and parents.
Contribute to Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Work
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals on student support.
Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
Curriculum and Therapy Integration
Align therapy interventions with the school's personalised learning approach.
Adapt therapy for students with SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
Recommend adaptations and assistive technologies to support curriculum access.
Safeguarding and Professional Standards
Follow safeguarding policies to ensure student well-being.
Adhere to HCPC Code of Ethics and professional standards.
Participate in ongoing professional development (CPD).
Administrative Duties
Keep confidential records of assessments and therapy.
Contribute to team meetings and school progress reports.
Ensure all therapy activities comply with school policies and HCPC guidelines.
About You
Essential
HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience, ideally working with children and young people.
Experience working with students with SEN and SEMH needs, including ASD, ADHD, and trauma.
Knowledge of sensory processing, fine/gross motor skills, and functional independence.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to maintain accurate clinical records and provide constructive feedback to students and staff.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS).
Desirable
Experience in a school or alternative provision setting.
Familiarity with the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
Postgraduate training in Sensory Integration or relevant therapeutic approaches.
Knowledge of trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practices.
