We are recruiting Paediatric Support Workers to join a small, consistent team supporting a school-aged child with complex physical and communication needs.
Support is provided within the family home and local community. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working closely with a family, supporting routines, therapy goals and meaningful activities.
Flexibility is essential, particularly during school holidays, where shifts may start early and finish later in the day.
Shifts & Availability
Shifts vary and may include:
Weekdays:
Starts from 6:30am
Afternoon/evening shifts up to 9:00pm
Weekends:
Saturday or Sunday shifts (typically 7 hours)
Ability to work longer shifts (up to 10 hours) during school holidays
Key requirement:
Availability and flexibility during school holiday periods.
Key Responsibilities
Provide person-centred support in the family home and community
Deliver personal care with dignity and respect, including toileting and hygiene
Support before and after school routines and holiday schedules
Use non-verbal communication strategies (gestures, visuals, AAC)
Support emotional regulation using calm and consistent approaches
Facilitate age-appropriate play, activities and community outings
Follow therapy programmes and guidance from therapists
Carry out household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and maintaining therapy/play spaces
Accurately complete daily notes and records
Work closely with family members and the case management team
Essential Requirements
Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
Calm, patient and proactive approach
Confident providing personal care and household support
Flexible availability, especially during school holidays
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain), right to work in the UK and references
Desirable (Not Essential)
Experience working in a family home environment
Full UK driving licence and access to a car insured for business use
Experience with non-verbal communication or AAC
First Aid or medication awareness training
Training & Support
Paid induction and shadowing
Ongoing supervision
Access to specialist training (safeguarding, manual handling, communication and therapy support)
