Position Overview
We manufacture our shutters in our factory in West Malling, Kent. Our products have soared in popularity and we are now looking to increase our capacity. We are looking for a talented and experienced wood finisher, who has an eye for detail and enjoys working in a friendly, vibrant team.
This position is based in the final stage of production, the role will involve checking the qaulity of every product as it comes through, and signing it off for packaging. Damaged or defected panels will need to be pulled and put back through production.
The role will involve making small repairs to painted timber, so a wealth of knowledge in wood and paint finishing is crucial to maintain standards. You will be supervising a small team, training when needed to ensure all staff under your department are competent and capable.
The role would suit an individual who likes a fast pace, is keen to challenge themselves and can handle increased workloads when deadlines need to be met. As a growing company, we are looking for individuals who want to continuously better themselves and take on more responsibility.
Reliability is key to this role, you will be an important part of the team, being punctual with a great attendance record is key to the success of the role. You will be leading by example to your team.
Duties
Work closely with the manufacturing supervisors from different departments, reporting and communication on things that could be improved.
Checking all products prior to packaging to ensure the qaulity of the product is class leading and something the customer can be proud of.
Carry out thorough repairs and touch ups for any product defects.
Utilise power tools effectively and safely to complete tasks efficiently.
Work closely with management, to help achieve weekly targets.
Engage in heavy lifting when necessary to transport materials or equipment.
Collaborate with other members of the team, such as sales and installations to ensure seamless integration of systems within every project.
Maintain a positive attitude towards your work, inspiring others to achieve better. Maintain a clean and organised work environment, while adhering to all safety regulations.
Qualifications
Proven experience in wood working/finishing or in a similar role within the woodworking and manufacturing industry.
Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools relevant to carpentry work.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations, and best construction practices.
Ability to read CAD drawings accurately.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Physical stamina for heavy lifting and standing for extended periods during work hours.
Good communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
