The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter and Decorator to join our team, specialising in high-end residential and heritage projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in decorative finishes and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Protecting adjacent surfaces and furnishings to prevent damage during works.
- Preparing surfaces for decoration, including paint stripping, sanding, face and fine filling, and other preparatory tasks.
- Applying paint, varnish, and specialist finishes to walls, ceilings, and woodwork to the highest standards.
- Hanging wallpaper, wallcoverings, and lining paper, including various match types (free, straight, drop/offset, etc.).
- Maintaining a clean and orderly workspace, ensuring properties are left tidy at the end of each day.
- Working efficiently within fast-paced construction environments, including subcontracted projects.
- Interpreting interior design finish schedules to ensure correct materials are applied in the correct locations.
- Estimating and ordering materials through the office or site supervisor.
- Completing weekly timesheets and maintaining accurate records of hours and project details.
- Documenting additional works or site instructions and reporting to the site supervisor.
- Participating in site meetings to review progress and plan upcoming tasks.
- Representing the company professionally at all times - punctual, polite, and presentable.
- Wearing a clean, branded uniform provided by the company while on site.
About You
To apply for this role, it is essential that you have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in painting and decorating, ideally within high-end residential projects.
- Strong skills in surface preparation and finishing.
- Experience with wallpaper and wallcovering installation.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Fluency in English.
- The ability to complete basic paperwork and forms.
- A valid CSCS card.
The following qualifications would be beneficial, but are not essential:
- An NVQ Level 1, 2, or 3 in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent).
- A First Aid certification.
- A full UK driving licence.
