Job Role: Paralegal Apprentice

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 to 17:30 (37.5 hours per week)

Role overview

Introduction to the role:

The apprenticeship is a two-year structured training programme based in the Manchester office, designed to develop business skills while completing formal training and studying towards CILEx qualifications.

Introduction to the team:

You will be joining the successful real estate finance team in Manchester headed up by Chris Johnston. The team advises a range of clients in all aspects of secured lending, including:
  • Mortgages and debentures
  • Refinancings and restructurings
  • Revolving credit facilities
  • Syndicated loans
  • Forward funding/forward sale agreements
  • Property aspects of corporate funding arrangements
  • Ownership and funding structures for property transactions
Key responsibilities:
  • Shadowing our lawyers
  • Preparing court bundles
  • Conducting legal research
  • Assisting with legal matters
  • Drafting precedents
  • Liaising with clients
  • Getting involved in the firm wide social and charitable activities
  • Carrying out standard tasks such as administration, filing, faxing, answering the telephone and photocopying.
What we are looking for

Essential:
  • 3 A-Levels obtained at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • GCSE C grade or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)
  • Organises own work effectively
  • Competently follows agreed processes/methods
  • Ability to work to deadlines and run an effective diary system
  • Demonstrates understanding of client needs/expectations
  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and other commonly used software
  • Good team working skills
  • Excellent communication skills
