As a Paralegal employed by Apex Health Associates Limited and working alongside Scott Harding-Lister (Consultant Solicitor to Scott Moncrief & Associates, a London City law firm), you will support the legal team in the delivery of high-quality legal services within the personal injury and clinical negligence sectors. You will operate under the supervision of qualified solicitors and legal professionals, gaining hands-on experience in legal research, drafting, client care, and case management. This role is intended to develop your legal skills and understanding of practice while contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided.
Responsibilities
Deliver ethical legal services in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and the policies of Scott Moncrief & Associates.
Uphold the highest standards of client care and always act in the best interests of the client.
Maintain professionalism in all aspects of your work.
Assist qualified legal professionals at Scott Moncrief & Associates in providing legal advice.
Provide administrative and research support to solicitors.
Conduct routine legal research under supervision and present findings to assist in legal decision-making.
Support the initial review of legal documents including witness statements, meeting notes, contracts, and lease agreements.
Draft varied correspondence and legal documents using digital tools, under supervision.
Proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Support the use of digital technologies within the firm to enhance service delivery.
Utilise digital platforms to improve efficiency and streamline legal processes.
Communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders, adapting your communication style appropriately.
Escalate concerns and issues in accordance with the firm's policies and procedures.
Manage your workload through the firm's case management systems.
Progress and review casework, identifying any issues that require escalation.
Deliver paralegal tasks in accordance with the firm's commercial strategy, ensuring compliance with time recording and fee structures.
Assist in providing excellent client service in routine casework.
Ensure that services delivered meet the client's expectations and needs.
Support the performance of Know Your Client (KYC) checks to ensure appropriate legal service provision.
Administer and manage client and organisational data in compliance with legal requirements.
Ensure adherence to data protection legislation and best practice.
Support the secure execution of transactions to mitigate risks including money laundering, fraud, and cybercrime.
Recognise the limits of your knowledge and experience, escalating matters beyond your competence to more senior colleagues.
Qualifications and Skills
GCSEs and A-Levels (or equivalent).
Either currently pursuing or already holding a Law degree.
A genuine interest in pursuing a career in law.
A sound understanding of legal principles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with digital tools and case management systems.
High attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
Excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
