The opportunity




We are looking for a Paralegal to support our busy and expanding Criminal Law Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen interest in criminal law who is eager to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. You'll work alongside experienced solicitors on a wide range of criminal matters, playing a key role in case preparation, legal research, client contact, and court-related tasks.


Further training will be provided in the basic principles of Criminal Law from all members of the team.

Key responsibilities




General duties include, but are not limited to:

Attending to clients of the Firm in the office or elsewhere if needed; Undertaking a wide range of administrative tasks, both internally and externally, including client onboarding, billing, matter management and financial hygiene tasks. Drafting documents and producing research. Involvement in Marketing and Business Development events and activities. Communicating promptly and effectively both internally to colleagues and externally to clients. Attending, and being involved in preparation for, Team meetings. Carrying out work for both colleagues and clients to the highest possible standard, having regard to the Firm's standards, procedures and Core Values. Working in a collegiate and collaborative way within an immediate Team and wider Firm environment. Maintaining your continuing professional development requirements and taking an active interest in furthering your knowledge within the field of law. Adhering to firm's time recording requirements.

Requirements



Essential



A keen interest in Criminal law. Previous experience in relevant criminal and/or regulatory experience is desirable. This role requires travel to other office locations and off-site venues in response to client needs, including attendance at courts, police stations, and prisons nationwide. Due to the nature of the work, there may be occasional requirements to work outside standard office hours, including evenings or weekends, depending on client demands. As such, the ability to travel is essential to fulfil the responsibilities of the role. Can demonstrate alignment with our ethos and core values of 'TRUST'. Professional and effective telephone skills taking detailed messages where necessary. Strong inter-personal skills when dealing with clients and work colleagues alike. Excellent organisational and time management skills. High attention to detail. Can demonstrate professional and effective communication skills. Willingness to learn and develop. Experience of organising workload and meeting deadlines.

Desirable



Previous experience in relevant criminal and/or regulatory experience in Paralegal role. Completion of LLB, GDL or LPC (or equivalent).
