We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our Court of Protection Team to assist on case files and to help support the day to day running of the Health and Welfare team.
Our Court of Protection, Health & Welfare team sits within the wider, growing, Public Law Department. The team assists vulnerable clients and their family members in cases in the Court of Protection concerning mental capacity, residence and care disputes, deprivation of liberty applications and decisions relating to serious medical treatment.
This role is on hybrid working arrangement based out of our Manchester office, however we are open to application from candidate who can commute to either our Leeds or London offices. Please note this role will involve travel across the UK to visit our clients and to attend court.
Key responsibilities:
Assisting Solicitors and fee earners with their case files
Prioritising & managing workload effectively
Drafting letters and witness statements
Preparing court bundles and attending Court
Dealing with the Legal Aid Agency
Legal research
Handling new client enquiries, as well as communicating with existing clients, including those who are vulnerable
Maintaining internal records in relation to calls and work undertaken
To manage calls and cases, research information and provide a comprehensive legal service
Maintain up to date knowledge of services & procedures
Billing
Travelling to assist with/attend visits to clients homes
We are ideally looking for a candidate with experience in Court of Protection Health & Welfare, however as this is a highly specialised area of law we are also open to applications from those who have previous experience as a paralegal within legal aid.
