We currently have opportunities for a Paralegal to join our Legal Team based in Exeter. This is a full-time permanent position offering a competitive salary of 31,000 - 38,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
About the role
As a Paralegal within Pennon Group's Corporate Services Department, you will be an integral member of the Legal Team, supporting the Legal Advisers and Legal Manager across a broad range of legal work.
A key part of the role will involve working with our Enforcement Team, helping to regulate compliance under the Water Industry Act 1991 and supporting our water companies in addressing issues such as private leakage, illegal connections, and breaches of Water Fittings Regulations. You'll help ensure our legal obligations are met and that we continue to protect public health and the environment.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a Paralegal role.
What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting our legal advisers on enforcement and compliance cases
  • Drafting correspondence and preparing legal documentation
  • Assisting with investigations into breaches such as illegal connections or private leaks
  • Undertaking legal research and case preparation
  • Help produce and share key legal and regulatory updates across the business.
  • Managing general legal enquiries and maintaining key team systems
  • You'll assist with post-completion activities such as Stamp Duty and Land Registry processes.
  • You will support the completion of transactions, including the preparation and submission of Stamp Duty and Land Registry documentation.

What we are looking for:
  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent having 5 GCSE's including Maths and English at grade A-C
  • Being able to work under pressure and to timescales
  • Excellent written and spoken communication abilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Professionally dealing with confidential information
  • Agile and creative approach to problem solving with a flexible and adaptable approach
