Paralegal Financial Services Litigation

Southampton, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

The vacancy

Moore Barlow is seeking a Paralegal to join our Financial Services Litigation team based in our offices in Chandler's Ford.

More about us:

Formed via a merger in 2020, Moore Barlow is a leading law firm aiming to be the best law firm to work for regionally. We are a career firm, providing access to high-quality work, long-term career opportunities and an environment built on the premise of being "human first" in everything we do. Put simply, we care as much about your career as you do.

We are featured in The Times' Best Law Firms 2024 list, and consistently achieve recognition for the quality of our services in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

We are now 450 people, including 280 lawyers and 58 Partners, with offices across the South-East and London.

More about the Financial Services Litigation team:

Our Financial Services Litigation team, led by Susannah Marsh, offers exceptional expertise across the sector. We act for a wide range of lender clients - including commercial, residential, second charge, bridging, short-term, development, and other bespoke asset-based lenders. With more than 20 years' experience, we have built a strong reputation for delivering a flexible mix of fixed-fee and tailored services.

Working alongside them, our Repossession Sales team provides a market-leading conveyancing service, supporting lender clients and receivers with the sale of repossessed properties. Together, these teams deliver an unrivalled service within the industry.

Day to day:

Navigating a dispute can be challenging and stressful. At Moore Barlow, our goal is to reach fair, effective resolutions while keeping the process as straightforward as possible. We focus on providing clarity around potential outcomes and pride ourselves on handling disputes calmly and rationally, always working towards the best result for our clients.

As a Paralegal, you will play a key role within the team by managing your own caseload while also supporting lawyers on more complex matters. Your work will primarily involve progressing a portfolio of mortgage repossession cases, including issuing proceedings, preparing witness statements, liaising with courts and the Land Registry, and engaging with both lenders and borrowers. This is a varied and hands-on role that will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and contribute directly to positive outcomes for our clients.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in this specialist area of law. You will be immersed in the litigation process from start to finish, building a strong foundation of knowledge and practical skills that will serve you throughout your career.

You will also have the chance to work with a diverse range of commercial clients, helping you to develop valuable commercial awareness and the ability to adapt your approach to different business needs. Alongside this, you will be supported by highly experience colleagues who have been working with the team for many years, giving you the chance to learn directly from experts while carving out your own reputation in this area of practice.

With a resilient pipeline of work that is continuing to increase, this is an exciting time to join Moore Barlow. This is a long term opportunity to grow and progress within a supportive, collaborative, and highly-experienced team.

What we look for:

Moore Barlow is human-first in everything we do and we seek people who share this trait. You will therefore have excellent communication skills, a passion for helping clients achieve their goals and the ability to think creatively.

In addition;

We estimate that this position will appeal to an individual at the earlier stages of their career, such as a college leaver or graduate. Equally, this role would suit an existing Paralegal (with or without prior litigation experience) who is looking to take that next step in their professional development. Our team works to deadlines and other service level agreements that we have in place with our clients; therefore you will be calm under pressure, adopt a naturally proactive and organised approach to your work, with the ability to adapt to short-notice changes in priorities. You will be confident in building relationships within and outside of your immediate team and able to work collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.

If you have the required skills and experience and are keen to advance your career as part of our specialist Financial Services Litigation team, then we strongly encourage you to apply.
