is looking for a

Paralegal/Legal Analyst

to support char.gy in successfully bidding for, implementing and then managing new contracts. The role will involve assisting with the preparation and submission of bids, reviewing contracts and related customer documentation, and identifying key legal risks. Following a successful award of a contract, the Paralegal will work closely with internal stakeholders to negotiate and implement contractual arrangements and will support ongoing contract management to ensure compliance and performance.

Working within the Legal team, you will also provide general paralegal and administrative support, including reviewing and managing NDAs, maintaining contract databases, and organising legal documentation. This is a dynamic and hands-on role, offering the opportunity to contribute directly to the growth of the business and shape key client relationships.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be supported in developing their understanding of legal risk, commercial contracting and public procurement processes, with opportunities to gain exposure to broader business and legal strategy.

This role will suit a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is seeking a challenge and comfortable working in a fast-growing organisation. The role's responsibilities will quickly grow with the business, representing an excellent development opportunity. You will work closely with various departments to support the development of business cases and bid submissions, with a particular focus on identifying legal and commercial risks within proposed transactions and advising on how these risks can be managed or mitigated. The role will report to the Legal Associate, with a dotted line into the Head of Legal and entails presentation of insights to senior management - good communication skills are therefore essential.

What will you do:

With the support of the Legal team, the role's responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with the bid team to craft high-quality responses to tender questions, specifically addressing the legal risks associated with the transaction; Supporting the commercial team in investment analysis to ensure that proposed initiatives meet return expectations and achieve business objectives - this may include ensuring that the bid strategy devised by the commercial team is supported by an interpretation of the relevant legal documents (i.e. "does it work under the documents?"); Supporting the legal team in the production of risk registers, memos and legal analysis for senior stakeholders, including the Executive Team; Supporting the legal team on drafting memoranda setting out risks inherent in any transaction and how best to manage those risks; Supporting the legal and commercial teams, as well as the partnership and delivery team on implementation of transactions and ongoing contract management; Providing support to the legal team in drafting, reviewing, and maintaining NDAs, ensuring accurate record-keeping and document organisation; . Working with other teams across the business including Delivery, Product Development, Partnerships, Data, and Finance in order to gather and synthesise information that can be used to inform business cases.

This role will suit if you...

Have complete a degree level qualification in Law or a non-law degree followed by the GDL or equivalent, in a common law jurisdiction. Candidates who have also completed the LPC are preferable, but this is not essential. Have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear, structured arguments in both short- and long-form documents. You enjoy applying legal research and logical analysis to solve complex problems effectively. Are comfortable reviewing long-form legal and technical documents (such as bidding documents and contracts) and identifying key clauses or provisions that may present legal or commercial risk to the project.. Have a genuine interest in commercial and contract law, with a desire to develop your legal knowledge in a practical and fast-moving business environment . Are comfortable using the Microsoft Office suite of programs particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as digital workflows (e.g. e-signature tools and data sharing platforms). It is also beneficial to have a familiarity with contract management systems. Are proactive and able to work autonomously where needed. Are intellectually curious and commercially aware, with the ability to understand business challenges and contribute creatively to how analytical or legal solutions might be shaped and improved. Are able to take ownership of problems and contribute to continuous improvement by working collaboratively across teams to support informed, high-quality decision-making. You bring a solutions-focused mindset and a willingness to engage with complex issues. Demonstrate strong attention to detail and excellent time management, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment. You are proactive, dependable, and capable of working autonomously where required, while also knowing when to seek input or escalate. Are a self-starter with a "can-do" attitude and a friendly demeanour while still able to push hard to achieve targets and timelines. Ideally have gained legal work experience in a Common Law/Commonwealth jurisdiction.
