Job description
Full Time / 18.5 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Are you passionate about providing key support to our busy Property, Highways & Planning Legal Services team?
The Property Team is integral to the proper functioning of many services within the Council, providing support and expert advice. Join our busy yet well-established team of professionals. Surrounded by expertise you'll work in a supportive environment which offers the opportunity for self-development. In exchange for your commitment, you'll be encouraged to learn and develop your skills, enabling you to take your career to the next level.
We have a permanent and fixed term post for 12 months, working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. You'll be mainly home-based but will be required to attend the offices once a week. You'll receive a structured induction and daily support from the team and Principal Lawyer.
What you'll be doing
You'll manage a varied and interesting caseload, undertaking a range of legal work as well as providing administrative assistance and support to lawyers. You will draft and review standard legal agreements such as Right to Buy transfers and residential care charges as part of your own caseload. You'll prepare and deal with Land Registry applications, obtain property searches, conduct research of Land Registry titles, complete short-term leases and assist with post-completion matters on property, planning and highways transactions. You'll organise the sealing and filing of hardcopy and electronic traffic regulation orders and various agreements and maintain the Sealing Register. Daily, you'll liaise with the Principal Lawyer and Fee Earners in relation to cases and to discuss low level legal matters. Weekly, you will organise the scanning and circulation of the team's post.
What we can offer you
As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We'll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from several flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
