THE ROLE

The Legal & Compliance team manages all legal, compliance and regulatory matters relating to NextEnergy Group. We are seeking a Paralegal to work on a part-time basis supporting the Global Head of Compliance in various corporate and commercial legal areas and projects.
The Paralegal role is offered on a part-time basis, 16 hours per week, split over 2 days per week with 1 day a week required in person in the office in London but flexibility on how the hours are split can be offered for the desired candidate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviewing a range of ad-hoc simple commercial agreements including routine Non-Disclosure Agreements, IT and Supplier Contracts and Terms and Conditions;
  • Intellectual Property Rights support including reviewing watch notices, allocation of invoices, instructions to external lawyers to update trademark tracker and protect trademarks as determined by the Management Team, creation of set of IPR Guidelines;
  • Assistance with projects including data mapping exercise regarding personal data in the group, pre-employment background checks and authorised signatories project for sign off protocols;
  • Assisting in implementation of future legal technology including AI Syntax System;
  • Providing general organisational support including maintaining legal files and records.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Superb stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Ability to compile and present data clearly, attractively concisely and in a way that others find compelling and easy to digest (using PowerPoint as well as tools such as PowerBi)
  • Ability to balance priorities
  • Good commercial understanding of the sector
  • IT Literacy - you should have the interest in technology, including AI and show the aptitude to bring this into your role and the projects you are accountable for delivering. You do not need to be a technologist yourself but you must be technically literate and curious about the possibilities that technology
  • Delivery focus \xe2\x80\x93 it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience gained in a law firm or in-house, ideally in a financial services business with excellent technical, broad and generalist paralegal experience.
  • Law degree, or equivalent.
  • High Level of IT Literacy, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • The right to work in the UK.
