We have an exciting new opportunity for a Paraplanner in our Personal Wealth team, based in Glasgow or Edinburgh.


The role is envisaged as full-time, however we're also open to considering candidates interested in a 4 day working week.

What will your role look like?




Our Paraplanners are responsible for overseeing the quality and accuracy of financial plans, leading strategic planning efforts and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will be conducting analysis of complex financial scenarios, evaluate specialist financial products and in conjunction with the Planner provide expert recommendations. This role will see you build and maintain strong relationships with Planners and stakeholders. You will present complex financial concepts and contribute to the overall development of the financial planning function through strategic input and guidance. The role requires exceptional technical knowledge and the ability to mentor and guide junior members of the team.


Your main role will involve research and report writing and as such all candidates must be competent suitability report writers and must have experience of writing varied reports on different products and services.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:



Prepare quality and technically accurate sophisticated client suitability reports. Conduct fund research using Defaqto and FE Analytics Maintain the client back office system (iO) Keep up to date with new legislative changes Working closely with financial Planners and administrators to ensure a high standard of advice and service to clients Produce all the relevant paperwork for the client, on behalf of the Planner, including quotations, illustrations and valuations Deal with queries from clients, Planners or colleagues, taking the appropriate action to ensure the query is dealt with in a timely and effective manner. Provide a professional customer service to new and existing clients via telephone, email and face to face when required. Possess expert knowledge in estate planning, retirement planning, tax and investments. Oversee the quality and accuracy ensuring compliance with regulatory standards of junior members of the team Build and maintain strong relationships with Planners and stakeholders Present complex financial concepts effectively and provide mentorship to junior members of the team.

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:



Expert knowledge in specialist areas such as retirement planning, tax and investment analysis Have demonstrable experience within an IFA/Financial Planning firm Have experience of IO back office software Strong report writing skills Be experienced conducting research and producing reports in relation to a wide range of advice areas including estate planning, retirement planning and investments Be experienced conducting research and producing reports in relation to a wide range of advice areas including estate planning, retirement planning and investments Good working knowledge of IO database is preferred Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Experience of Defaqto and FE Analytics preferred
