Background and Service Specifics
Sandwell Family Hubs:
Barnardo's is proud to deliver Sandwell's Family Hubs across the Borough. The service provides a range of quality services for families, locally designed for the 6 town areas of the Borough, divided into 3 areas:
Cluster A - Oldbury, Smethwick
Cluster B - Tipton, Rowley Regis
Cluster C - Wednesbury and West Bromwich
Across the cluster, we are committed to delivering a robust offer for communities and residents, designed to promote access to services, reduce barriers to engagement and build resilient communities.
The Parenting team take an active lead working across the Borough (and within targeted clusters/areas), to deliver high quality, evidenced based/informed parenting for parents/carers. Sitting across all areas (Family Support, Early years/Education/SEND and health and well-being), the offer will achieve best outcomes for the families referred into that offer. The aim is to have a consistent and responsive offer across Sandwell Borough for all parents, offering flexible times and methods of engagement (i.e. face to face, virtual, webinars).
This role will have a focus on supporting parents/carers in their first 1001 days and is a hub/community based role. The role will entail supporting the delivery of programmes for parents with a focus on the early years element, this role will need you to be able to travel across Sandwell on a daily basis.
Objectives/key activities -Parenting Support Worker (1001 days focus)

  • To support delivery of agreed KPI's related to parenting under the Sandwell provision of Family Hubs, under the leadership of an identified Team Manager. Specifically for Triple P Baby and Solihull approach for Parent/Carers during the first 1001 days.
  • To identify, recruit and retain parents/families with a focus on engaging families.
  • Support delivery of a range of positive parenting support services and evidence-based groups to parents and carers ensuring access to services is available when needed and co-deliver with external professionals as and when required. (Both face to face and virtual).
  • To provide information, advice and guidance and education to support the confidence and resilience of all parents, parents 'to-be' and vulnerable parents and carers in their parenting.
  • To participate in the promotion and facilitation of activities and events delivered by Sandwell Family Hubs, promoting effective parenting as a key strand in broader service offers.
  • In relation to the provision of positive parenting support services and groups, work with partners from other agencies and SMBC to support packages which meet each family's needs; being responsive to their changing needs.
  • Signposting of Parents/Carers to targeted SEND Early years/education parenting response, where this has been identified as a need.
  • Support the broader delivery of aims and objectives under the Sandwell Family Hub offer i.e., liaison with key partners, ie., midwifery, health visitors, schools.
  • To provide accurate recordings onto EHM system and submit monitoring for Synergy.
  • To actively engage in reflective supervision, PDR's and be responsible for updating learning, implementing into practice and develop skills to meet service needs.
  • To meet the needs of the service evening and weekend work may need to be undertaken as required.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate within your job role to reflect the needs of the service.
The salary for this role is xc2xa324,242.00 (Full Time Equivalent) other salaries are shown so that applicants are aware of the progression salaries and is non-negotiable.
