Role Overview
To ensure the smooth and safe flow of vehicles during peak arrival periods each morning and to take responsibility for the repair, recycling and disposal of all used pallets across the site, ensuring they are managed efficiently, safely and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Car Park Marshalling (Morning Duties)
Proactively manage the flow of vehicles during morning peak periods to ensure staff and visitors can park safely and efficiently.
Direct vehicles to appropriate parking zones and keep access routes clear at all times.
Identify and report any unsafe parking practices, hazards, or maintenance issues (e.g. lighting, signage, potholes).
Provide a visible, approachable presence on site to assist staff, visitors and delivery drivers.
Support site security by monitoring vehicle movements and reporting any unusual activity.
Pallet Management (Day Duties)
Take ownership of all used pallet handling, including sorting, repairing, recycling, and safe disposal.
Inspect returned pallets to determine whether they should be repaired, recycled, or scrapped.
Carry out basic pallet repairs using appropriate tools and equipment.
Maintain accurate records of pallet quantities, repairs, recycling and disposal for reporting and cost control.
Liaise with logistics, warehouse and external pallet companies to coordinate collections and returns.
Keep pallet storage areas safe, organised, and compliant with fire and H&S regulations.
Identify opportunities to improve pallet recovery, reduce waste and increase recycling rates.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a warehouse, yard or logistics environment is desirable but not essential.
Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
Basic DIY / tool handling skills for pallet repairs.
Good communication skills and ability to give clear instructions to drivers and staff.
Reliable, punctual and able to work with minimal supervision once trained.
Understanding of basic health & safety principles (training will be provided).
Additional Information
High-visibility clothing and appropriate PPE will be provided.
Manual handling is required; training will be given.
The role involves outdoor working for part of the day.
