We are seeking a

Part Management & Vehicle Preparation Engineer

to support a major automotive manufacturer based in

Warwickshire

. This role is critical in enabling vehicle development, verification, and validation (V&V) activities by ensuring accurate part specification, timely procurement, effective stock control, and robust logistics support for both UK-based and overseas testing programmes.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, component owners, suppliers, and logistics partners to ensure vehicles and test activities are supported efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with engineers and component owners to define part specifications and quantities required for upcoming R&TK, validation, and VeD testing activities. Procure and order parts to support test and validation programmes, managing supplier communications, delivery schedules, and logistics. Prepare, kit, and organise part packs to support testing activities within the Gaydon workshop. Manage and maintain part stock levels for the MLA High platform, ensuring availability of common and consumable components. Coordinate export shipments of parts, wheels & tyres, and vehicles to support overseas testing activities, ensuring compliance with export and shipping requirements. Develop and maintain wheel & tyre delivery schedules to support testing demand while managing warehouse capacity constraints at Gaydon and overseas test facilities. Track part usage, stock levels, and delivery performance, identifying risks to test activity and implementing mitigation actions where required. Support continuous improvement of part management, logistics, and vehicle preparation processes.

Qualifications:
Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Automotive Technology, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline. Relevant professional training or certifications in logistics, supply chain management, or automotive engineering are advantageous. Full, valid UK driving licence.

Essential skills:
Strong understanding of automotive parts, vehicle systems, and test preparation processes. Experience in parts ordering, stock control, and logistics coordination. Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into accurate part specifications and quantities. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with engineers, suppliers, and logistics partners. Proficiency in using inventory management systems, spreadsheets, and engineering databases.

Desired skills:
Knowledge of vehicle development, R&TK, validation, and VeD testing activities. Experience working with overseas test facilities and international shipping/export processes. Familiarity with OEM processes, systems, and quality standards. Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to risk management. Continuous improvement or lean process experience within an engineering or logistics environment.

Experience:
Previous experience in an automotive engineering, vehicle preparation, parts management, or logistics role. Experience supporting vehicle testing or development programmes within an OEM or Tier-1 supplier environment is highly desirable. Exposure to managing wheel & tyre logistics and warehouse capacity constraints would be an advantage.
