Summary

We are seeking a part time Cook/Assistant Chef to join our kitchen team at The Carriers. This role is essential in supporting our culinary operations, ensuring that our guests receive delicious meals prepared to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

Assist in meal preparation and cooking of menu items under the guidance of the head chef. Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area. Help with inventory management and stock rotation to minimize waste. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods. Participate in menu planning and development as needed.
The position is part time, approximately 25 hours per week with scope to increase if necessary, plus additional holiday cover. This will involve working Wednesdays and Thursdays, with possibly some Sundays. Approximate hours would be Wednesday and Thursday 10.30-9 (split shifts available if wanted) and Sundays 10.30-5.30.

As we are a country pub we request ONLY candidates with their own transport apply as the pub is not accessible by public transport on a regular basis.

Salary depends on experience

Requirements

Previous experience in a kitchen environment or as an assistant chef is preferred. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills. Understanding of food safety practices and regulations. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
