Overview

As a

Collection and Delivery Driver

with NS Tooling Services, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation of our tool resharpening service. You will be responsible for ensuring that our customers receive a professional, reliable, and efficient collection and delivery service -- a key part of maintaining the high standards our company is known for.

This position involves visiting a regular customer base across a set geographical area, collecting used or dull tools to be resharpened and delivering sharpened or replacement tools back to customers. You'll be the face of the company for many of our clients, so a friendly, professional manner and excellent communication skills are essential.

A typical day will start with organising your route and loading the company vehicle with the correct orders for delivery. Throughout the day, you'll manage multiple stops, making sure all items are correctly labelled, logged, and accounted for. You'll also collect tools for resharpening, ensuring they are securely packaged and clearly identified to prevent mix-ups.

In addition to driving duties, you will take new and repeat orders from customers, answer queries, and pass relevant information to the workshop and office teams. You will play a crucial part in keeping the workflow moving smoothly between our customers and our in-house sharpening department.

You'll need to be proactive and organised, capable of planning your own routes efficiently while adapting to changes or urgent requests. You'll also work closely with the workshop and office staff to coordinate deliveries, collections, and any special requirements from customers.

The role can involve some manual handling, including lifting tool boxes, containers, or bundles of tools, so a reasonable level of physical fitness is required. Attention to detail is vital -- ensuring the right items go to the right place every time.

Ultimately, this is a hands-on, customer-facing position where reliability, accuracy, and good communication are key. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently while still being part of a close-knit, supportive team.

Duties

Safely operate delivery vehicles, ensuring compliance with all traffic regulations. Load and unload goods, performing heavy lifting as necessary. Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely delivery of items. Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including receipts and any discrepancies. Maintain customer relations by conducting yourself in a professional and friendly manner. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs promptly.

Requirements

Previous experience as a delivery driver is highly desirable. Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record; experience with driving or commercial driving is advantageous. You must be aged 25 and over for this role for insurance purposes. Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics processes is preferred. Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members. Ability to perform some heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks throughout the day. A proactive approach to problem-solving and time management skills are essential for success in this role.
