The role involves key daily tasks such as feeding cows and calves, bedding up, and scraping out housing areas to maintain a clean and healthy environment for our livestock.
Key Responsibilities:
Feeding:
Preparing and delivering feed to cows and calves
Feeding of young calves and monitoring their condition
Animal Husbandry:
Maintain clean, dry, and well-bedded areas for cows and calves
Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Scraping out housing areas to maintain hygiene standards
Spreading fresh bedding in cubicles and pens
Robotic Milking Support (as needed):
Monitor cow flow through the milking robots
Help guide cows to the robot when necessary
Keep robot and surrounding areas clean and clear
Requirements:
Prior livestock experience is an advantage but not essential--training can be provided
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Able to work independently and follow instructions
Reliable, punctual, and observant
Telehandler or tractor experience is a bonus
