Cross Resourcing is delighted to be supporting our client, a leading Scottish charity, with the recruitment of a Finance Officer . (Part - time)
This is a newly created role, designed to provide key financial support to the Business & Finance Manager and contribute to the ongoing development of financial and accounting processes across the organisation.

What You'll Do

  • Take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping using QuickBooks, including issuing invoices and tracking payments
  • Compile and analyse financial data for journal entries and general ledger maintenance, producing accurate monthly reconciliations and reports
  • Support audit preparation, working closely with the Business & Finance Manager to supply relevant data and reports to internal and external auditors
  • Assist in preparing quarterly financial reports, including variance analysis and project-specific updates for the Board and Senior Management
  • Monitor expenditure, reconcile bank accounts, oversee petty cash and process journal entries
  • Ensure financial transactions comply with organisational policies and financial regulations
  • Liaise with team leads and fundraisers to create and manage budgets for various projects and funding streams
  • Prepare and submit returns and reports to HMRC and other regulatory bodies
  • Collaborate with HR on payroll and pension processing, including onboarding, salary adjustments, payslip generation, and leaver documentation
  • Process daily payments and receipts, ensuring timely reconciliations and accurate financial reporting
  • Manage the credit control process, including the preparation of debtor reports and updates to the Business & Finance Manager
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating financial risks and contribute to governance and compliance activities
What You'll Need
  • A professional finance qualification (or part-qualified), such as CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, CA, AAT, or a relevant finance degree
  • Knowledge of the charity and voluntary sector, including Local Authority and Scottish Government funding frameworks
  • Understanding of current finance and fundraising practices, with knowledge of VAT regulations
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (or other accounting software)
  • Previous experience working within the voluntary or third sector environment is highly desirable
  • Strong IT skills and ability to communicate financial information clearly across departments and to external stakeholders
