Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and implementing effective financial strategies. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in accounting software.

This is a pivotal role for us, The Society of Vintners, as we expland our team. We are a not-for-profit wine buying group, supplying over 4 million bottles of wine per year to the UK hospitality sector. The company is run by a small, friendly, hard-working and flexible team in lovely offices between Fontwell and Chichester.

Duties

Manage and oversee the daily operations of our finances, including accounts payable and receivable. Prepare and present financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to senior management and the Board. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, maintaining accurate records. Liaise with members (customers) and suppliers as necessary. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. Regular reconciliation of bank accounts and associated transactions. Management of currency accounts / forecasting / payments etc. Monitor cash flow and manage financial risks to ensure the organisation's stability. Support the stock-take, stock control and stock transaction functions to ensure effectiove controls Work closely with, and support, the CEO to provide management accounts and other reports as required.

Skills

Proficiency in accounting software is essential. Strong financial management skills with a solid understanding of accounting principles. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail, enabling precise financial analysis. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
